Sudan’s civilian coalition to unveil new political vision and roadmap to end war

Tagadum was founded in October 2023 to form the broadest coalition against the war, achieve peace and restore Sudan's civilian transition.

The Democratic Civilian Coalition for the Revolutionary Forces (Smoud) will present a new political vision and roadmap to end the ongoing war in Sudan.

According to the Sudan Tribune, this follows the dissolution of the Coordination of Democratic Civilian Forces (Tagadum) on February 10, after internal disagreements over the declaration of a parallel government in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Those opposed to the formation of the government established Smoud on February 11 under the leadership of former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune, Smoud spokesman Bakry Eljack confirmed that the coalition's general secretariat decided in its Sunday meeting to unveil a new political vision and roadmap soon.

The coalition's plan is focused on stopping the war by mobilising civilian efforts and diplomatic action to activate mediation as well as engaging with the warring parties.

Eljack further revealed that the general secretariat formed a committee to review Smoud's organisational structures, drawing on the experience of Tagadum.

Tagadum was founded in October 2023 to form the broadest coalition against the war, achieve peace and restore Sudan's civilian transition.
